Why Me God? Why Now? Trusting God’s Promises

We’ve all had times in our lives when we ask, “Why me God? Why Now?”. There are many things that can make us feel this way! For example:

  • Something bad happens like an illness, loss or injury.
  • Your current circumstances seem overwhelming – mired in job loss or divorce.
  • You feel God's calling and you're not ready for it.
  • Other things you’ve experienced that I didn’t think about!

Whether it’s a major or minor ‘thing’, we’ve all felt it. To overcome the fear and uncertainty, we need to trust in God and His promises. Relying on faith in God can get us through these times! It not only shows obedience, but it also shows a servant/warrior spirit … the ability to trust God, and truly believe His promises, help us conquer fear and doubt.

Much like when the Israelites arrived in the promised land. They didn’t want to go because they were afraid of strong, “giant” people rumored to be inhabiting Israel. They would rather have stayed in Egypt! But, when they did travel to the promised land, things turned out just as God promised!

God tells them to go to the promised land:

Genesis 12:1-2 - The Lord had said to Abram, “Go from your country, your people and your father’s household to the land I will show you. I will make you into a great nation, and I will bless you; I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing.

They explored the promised land:

Numbers 13:17 -  When Moses sent them to explore Canaan, he said, “Go up through the Negev and on into the hill country. See what the land is like and whether the people who live there are strong or weak, few or many.

They were too scared to trust God:

Numbers 13:27-28 - They gave Moses this account: “We went into the land to which you sent us, and it does flow with milk and honey! Here is its fruit. But the people who live there are powerful, and the cities are fortified and very large. We even saw descendants of Anak there.

They trusted God and entered the promised land:

Joshua 1:3 - I will give you every place where you set your foot, as I promised Moses.

So - God’s promises are TRUTH! In fact, If you’re reading this blog right now, you’re in the middle of my “Why Me God? Why Now?” journey. Here’s why:

Years ago, I was fascinated with trying to export the Bible in different ways. After I figured out how to export the Bible for each day of the year, I thought to myself, this needs to be framed and displayed.” I wanted a way to share this with others in a quality way, so they would be uplifted, inspired and discover the same joy I found in it! I also wanted a way to help those in need.

Finding a way to cost effectively produce and distribute proved difficult, so I “put a pin in it.”

Every 6 months or so, I would search for ways to mass-produce the ‘Bible Days Wall Art’ and efficiently distribute it. My search would fail. One day, I found a production partner that could help me accomplish my goal. I wasn’t ready! “Why Me God? Why Now?” It would require a very large effort. Not only would I need the time to export all the scripture text, but also to design and connect the online resources. There were also costs involved … and let's not forget the accounting! Ugh! Accounting! There were so many “giants” in my path. I felt overwhelmed by all of it.

Then I thought: But God! I felt called to make it happen, so I trusted God and did it. It wasn’t easy.

  • Was I ready to take this on? No.
  • Did I have time to do this? No.
  • Could I really afford the cost to get this going and sustain it? No.
  • Did I have all the knowledge and the skills I needed to accomplish this? No.
  • Will it succeed? I don’t know. But, I trust God has a plan for this to succeed, whether it’s Life Prep Tools' success or success from inspiring others.
  • Could this help those in need (mentally, physically or financially)? Yes, it could.
  • Have I personally witnessed God’s promises in action? YES!

Besides our ‘Promised Land’ Bible verses above, how else did God encourage me with His promises in this journey thus far? Here are ways He has moved mountains:

  • Healing, forgiveness and redemption I personally witnessed!
  • Matthew 7:7 - Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.
  • John 16:24 - Until now you have not asked for anything in my name. Ask and you will receive, and your joy will be complete.
  • John 3:16 - For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
  • Isaiah 40:31 - But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint.

At this point, you may ask: Has this all been worth it? I would say, “Yes.” People have reached out to let me know that they have been uplifted and inspired at the right time in their lives. We’ve also been able to make donations to faith-based organizations, so that we can help others in need. AND, although this all started with ‘Bible Days Wall Art’...it has turned into so much more! My wife began offering her own designs … a dream she had “put a pin in”. Our ministry is to offer items people truly want and need - this blog, uplifting apparel, art & gifts!

What’s the takeaway?

What are you waiting for? Do you feel called by God to do something? Do it! With the hope and assurance of God’s promises on your side!

God bless you!
