Look around you … all of the things we need and have are a gift from God.

It’s amazing to me that God has provided us with all of the people, plants, animals and materials we need to live our lives. In fact - life itself is truly a gift. There’s beauty everywhere you look and soaking it all in helps us appreciate God’s creation. Sometimes looking up at the sky or out at nature, can be awe-inspiring. Seeing mountains and oceans can take our breath away. Watching an eagle fly, a deer walking through the woods with it’s fawn or a bear resting by a mountain creek is amazing. It’s as though being outdoors makes us feel more connected to God. We witness His awesome creation and it strengthens our faith.

There are times when I’m in awe of the very ideas that God gives us. These ideas can range from things we cleverly use that are essential to our survival like food, water and heat...or conveniences that help us, like electricity, houses, indoor heating, plumbing, useful containers (like bottles, cans and containers) and the internet.
Of course, we need the brain power to make these things from the materials that God provides for us … but, God gave us that brain power! - Like James 1:5 says: If any of you needs wisdom to know what you should do, you should ask God, and he will give it to you. God is generous to everyone and doesn’t find fault with them.

It’s hard to wrap your head around the fact that we haven’t run out of these resources. The sheer amount of materials and things we are able to create from raw materials is mind-boggling! Just think of how much ‘stuff’ we take for granted...food, water, clothing, cars, bottles, cans, paper, plastic and that cool new TV!
We’re just thinking about where we live...earth. Imagine what God has done in His creation to allow things in space to exist - the sun - the universe … all to be in His harmony!
What did we do to deserve all of the things we need and have? That’s where the gift comes in. God loves US! God’s creation works in perfect harmony to allow all of this to come together. It’s clearly His very elegant, complex design and love for us that makes it all possible. This didn’t all just happen by accident.
Next time you’re outside or just sitting at home bored...look around at the blessings God has given us. It is certainly challenging to our minds when we realize that God provides us EVERYTHING we need. Acknowledging what we have helps us all appreciate the wonderful gifts that He’s given us.
